Puzzle Storm
Three minutes. As many puzzles as you can solve.
How it works
Puzzles arrive one after another, starting very easy and getting harder with
every solve. Each correct puzzle adds a little time to the clock; a mistake
takes ten seconds away. The run ends when the clock does.
Your score is the number of puzzles solved. Your best run of the day, and your
best ever, are both kept.
There is no rating attached to Storm and solving does not affect your puzzle
rating. It is meant to be played repeatedly.
Getting better at it
Speed comes from pattern recognition, not from fast hands. Early puzzles
should be instant. If you are calculating on puzzle three, you are already
behind.
Take the extra second on hard ones. A wrong move costs ten seconds; two
seconds of thought costs two.
Play the whole line. Many puzzles need several moves. Solvers lose runs by
finding the idea and then playing the moves in the wrong order.
